| Day 1 Mon: Arrive Broome On arrival in Broome you will be transferred to your hotel. The afternoon is at leisure. Enjoy a Welcome Drink with your Tour Director this evening. Hotel: Cable Beach Club Resort, Broome, 2 nights. Day 2 Tue: Broome 'Free time’ Today is at leisure to explore this tropical hideaway. Enjoy a leisurely stroll along the 22 kilometres of pristine sand and swim in the turquoise blue water of Cable Beach. Wander through Chinatown or shop for pearls. At the end of the day sit back, relax and watch the spectacular sunset over the Indian Ocean. Or you may like to take a camel ride along Cable Beach. Ask your Tour Director for details. Day 3 Wed: Fitzroy Crossing Travel to the port of Derby, situated on the edge of King Sound. Visit the famous Boab Prison Tree, used by the first police as an overnight holding cell. Travel through some of Australia’s biggest pastoral properties, to the remote township of Fitzroy Crossing. Hotel: Fitzroy River Lodge, Fitzroy Crossing. Day 4 Thu: Geikie Gorge This morning cruise through Geikie Gorge, formed by the waters of the Fitzroy River tunnelling through the Napier Range. Watch for wildlife as the 30 metre high walls of the gorge tower above us. Be sure to look out for crocodiles and sawfish. Travel to Halls |

Day 5 Fri: Bungle Bungles Today we turn off the highway and transfer to our locally based 4WD vehicles for the trip into Purnululu National Park, home to some of Australia’s most unique vegetation and geology. This afternoon we tour into the southern side of the National Park and visit beautiful Cathedral Gorge, set as a natural amphitheatre offering amazing acoustics. We will also view the Beehives which are synonymous with the Bungle Bungles. The constant erosion and river movements have formed the huge black and orange striped domes over the last 20 million years. Although used extensively by the Aboriginal people during the wet season, when plant and animal life was abundant, few Europeans knew of their existence until the mid-1980’s. Hotel: Bungle Bungle Bush Camp, bedded tented cabins with shared semi-ensuite facilities. Day 6 Sat: Echidna Chasm – El Questro This morning we have an easy paced walk into the stunning Echidna Chasm, a truly beautiful destination surrounded by towering Livistonia Palms, another example of the unique beauty of this remote region. We travel back to the main highway and rejoin our coach for the journey to El Questro Wilderness Park, a million acres in the heart of the Kimberley. It is truly one of the world’s few remaining wild frontiers. Hotel: Emma Gorge Resort, tented cabins with private facilities, 2 nights. |
Day 7 Sun: El Questro Wilderness Park This morning cruise through Chamberlain Gorge, a fresh waterhole abounded by tropical vegetation. At Emma Gorge Resort there is the opportunity for a hike into picturesque Emma Gorge. Day 8 Mon: Kununurra This morning we rejoin the Gibb River Rd before heading to Parry Lagoon Nature Reserve. See the birdlife of this region. Continue to Wyndham to the 5 Rivers Lookout. Visit Warriu Park to see the Dreamtime Statues and rock art mural. This afternoon visit the historic Durack Homestead which was faithfully reconstructed to become a pioneer museum. Then cruise along the Ord River from Lake Argyle to Kununurra. Hotel: Country Club Hotel, Kununurra. Day 9 Tue: Katherine Cross vast cattle stations en route to Katherine. Hotel: Paraway Motel, Katherine. Day 10 Wed: Katherine Gorge Cruise the placid waters of the Katherine River through the towering cliffs of two gorges. This afternoon travel through to Darwin. Enjoy an orientation tour of this tropical city. Hotel: Holiday Inn Esplanade, Darwin. Day 11 Thu: Depart Darwin You will be transferred to Darwin Airport to connect with your onward flight. |
